OH, What a Morning!

I was awakened at 2:00 am by my 2 year old daughter because the cable went out.  My husband and I have a bad habit of sleeping with the television on and have passed this terrible habit on to our two kids.  So, 2:00 am, no cable TV = wide awake two year old!  I finally get her back to sleep at 4:00 am.  My husband's alarm goes off at 4:30 and mine goes off at 5:30.  Needless to say we did not get any sleep.

I make my way down the stairs to the kitchen and find waiting for me at the bottom of the stairs a puddle of cat pee pee.  It seems that one of my cats was too lazy to make it up the stairs to the litter boxes and chose to urinate on my husband's EMT bag, the carpeted steps and the tile floor!  Oh, how lovely.

I put my daughter on the couch with the hopes that the TV would keep her entertained while I cleaned the mess (yes, the cable had returned by now).  But, my hope quickly faded as three seconds after I turned on the TV, the power went out!!!!

How is your Friday going?

Do your kiddos have a TV in their room(s)?

You just gave me another reason to not like cats! Kidding, I like them fine, but I'm allergic to them--so of course they LOVE me!

Rough start to the weekend I see. Hope your power and cable are back on and you're somewhere with the family sipping an ice coffee and deciding on where to go out to eat. It can only get better after that! Poor little kittie...

How awful -- and sounds more like a Monday morning rather than a Friday.

Ed (hubby) received sage advice from a doctor not too long ago when he was having trouble sleeping (mind you, we don't have small children, though, so, of course, this may not help nor apply to your situation); he said: "Make your bedroom a sanctuary, a place of serenity to call your own.".

He told us no T.V. in our bedroom, which we've never had, and to truly make it a place where one would want to retire to in the evening -- your own retreat, if you will.

Perhaps this will work for little ones, as well....

So, I bought a comfy mattress top and we have a sound machine for white noise. I've also read that the color yellow is an agitating color (especially for kids) and that blue is soothing.

Perhaps a sound machine with soothing lullaby's will lull your daughter into a peaceful nights rest. Try a night light or one of those imagery machines of fish....

Also water is a wonderful sound and they have many resonably priced rock & water plug in 'sculpters' at Walmart.

If not, try bribery-ha! "If you stay in your big girl bed for X amount of days all night, Mommy & Daddy will buy you a new nightgown or stuffed animal (whatever works-ha!)." :D

I sure hope some of this helps and I wish you, hubby and daughter many peaceful nights to come.

Always good to stop by and see you. :)

Peace and serenity,
~Jo
